Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Service
Manager to oversee the daily operations of our truck and trailer service
department. The Service Manager is responsible for managing service
technicians, ensuring timely and efficient maintenance and repairs, maintaining
high customer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with industry and safety
standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Service Operations:
Oversee
daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, job
assignment, and work order management.
Ensure
repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently, accurately, and on
time.
Monitor
quality control of all service work to meet or exceed customer
expectations.
Staff Supervision and Development:
Lead,
train, and support service technicians and support staff.
Conduct
regular performance reviews and implement ongoing training programs.
Promote
a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Customer Relations:
Serve
as the primary point of contact for service-related customer inquiries
and concerns.
Communicate
effectively with customers regarding diagnostics, repair timelines, and
costs.
Ensure
excellent customer service and build long-term client relationships.
Inventory & Parts Management:
Coordinate
with the parts department to ensure timely availability of required
components.
Monitor
parts usage and assist in controlling inventory costs.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure
all service work complies with industry regulations, DOT requirements,
and company safety standards.
Maintain
accurate service records, inspections, and maintenance logs.
Financial Management:
Monitor
department KPIs, budgets, and profitability.
Assist
in estimating job costs and preparing service quotes and invoices.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role in truck and/or trailer service operations.
Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance and repair.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficient with service management software and Microsoft Office.
Strong customer service orientation.
Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years in the truck and trailer service industry.
Previous experience with brands such as Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Great Dane, Utility, etc.
Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations.
Working Conditions:
Office and shop environment.
May require lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to shop noise and conditions.
Some after-hours or weekend work may be required based on workload.
