housing markets has an opportunity for a Mechanical Lab Technician at our
manufacturing facility located in Elkhart, IN.

Position Summary
The Mechanical Lab Technician is responsible for setting up and operating mechanical test stands, collecting and analyzing test data, and preparing technical reports. This role supports engineering and management by evaluating product performance through testing and assisting with root cause analysis. A strong attention to detail and a highly motivated and results-driven are essential for success. This position includes mentorship and guidance from peers.
Key Responsibilities
Test Setup & Equipment Operation
· Set up and operate mechanical test stands and equipment including:
o Fatigue Test machines utilizing servo hydraulics
o Inertia Dynamometers
o Environmental chambers and pressure devices
o Prototype builds on trailers
· Conduct mechanical testing to evaluate performance characteristics such as:
o Proof Load
o Hardness
o Yield Point
o Spring Rate
· Data Collection and Reporting
o Configure test controllers
o Record, analyze, and interpret test data
o Prepare technical reports, Graphs and charts to communicate findings to engineering and management team.
o Eager to develop expertise in a range of data acquisition tools to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.
· Lab maintenance
o Mechanically inclined professional with hands-on experience in assembling and troubleshooting mechanical components.
o Performing Routine preventative maintenance on equipment
o Keeping a clean and well-organized work area
· General
o Support root cause analysis and failure investigations with hands-on teardown and inspection.
o Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
o Perform other duties as assigned to support lap operations

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology / Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline is required
- 1 Year experience preferred
- Ideal candidates will be experienced with trailer or automotive repair/maintenance and have strong mechanical, electrical, and technical aptitude
- Microsoft software knowledge is required
- Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and electronically
- Must be a team player, innovative, self-motivated, and punctual
