JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting production needs for their designated area in the multi-plant manufacturing campus, leading large capital projects with a cross functional team, developing process improvements, and leading implementation on the production floor. More specifically, this position will be responsible for activities including but not limited to the following:
- Production Support
- Supporting production operations during the manufacturing process through technical expertise, structured problem solving, and troubleshooting guidance.
- Developing and maintaining process flow charts and facility layouts.
- Analyzing current processes to find safety and efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Electrical Design
- Analyzing existing Electrical designs for technical understanding and comprehension.
- Designing PLC programs, servo motion, hydraulics, pneumatics, and sensors.
- Designing Electrical Cabinets, backplanes, and hardware.
- Taking ownership of Electrical Design from the project scope through completion.
- Project Management
- Participating in cross functional design reviews to establish standard and custom product designs for new product launches.
- Developing and communicating manufacturing standards for new product launches, project initiatives, and efficiency improvements to all departments.
- Reviewing and approving Engineering prints and specifications for optimum manufacturability, cost, tooling, and process structure.
- Partnering with the Product Design Team to resolve all engineering and design related problems as well as providing manufacturing inputs required for cost-effective designs.
- Process Development
- Initiating and participating in departmental or company strategic programs, which includes cycle time analysis, safety, quality, and/or cost improvements.
- Aiding the quality department with audit action items, field service as needed, and any quality issues associated with manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participating in organized team based continuous improvement projects, as needed.
- Performing self-directed continuous improvement daily tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Comprehension of Allen Bradley PLC software and ladder logic, Red Lion background is a plus.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, preference to AutoCAD and Inventor.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and software (Minitab / Cpk & Ppk)
Ignition Scada Background is a plus - Robotic Background in Fanuc is a plus.
Communication Skills
Possess strong team, leadership, and interpersonal skills enabling you to work with the full range of employees at the manufacturing site.
Ability to organize data into presentations for the team members and management.
Ability to generate operator instruction sheets, quality alerts, and clear communication forms.
Ability to concisely condense complicated processes and data into a clear message for company decisions.
Problem Solving Skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish factual points, and communicate analytical decisions to the team.
Must possess a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work through hands-on troubleshooting (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical) with operators and maintenance technicians.
EDUCATION:
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a comparable discipline and at least 3+ years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical / Mechanical / Automation
