How to Replace an Upgraded RV Screen Door Latch Assembly

Time: Ten minutes

Required Tools & Materials:

1. Dexter Right Hand Upgraded Latch Assembly (990003-01)
2. Dexter Left Hand Upgraded Latch Assembly  (990003-02)
3. #2 Phillips Screwdriver

Steps:

1. Remove your old latch assembly by unscrewing three screws on the current latch with your Phillips screwdriver.
2. When the screws are out, slide the latch away from the door to remove the old latch.
3. Place the new latch on the screen door and slide it towards the outside of the door to put it in place.
4. Tighten the latch with the three screws first using your hand. Then continue to process tightening the screws with your Phillips Screwdriver.
5. Remove the keeper from the door by unscrewing each screw with your Phillips Screwdriver.
6. Place your new keeper on the door with the slots over the screw holes. Tighten the keeper with the new screws first using your hand. Then continue to process tightening the screws with your Phillips Screwdriver.
7. If you attempt to shut the door and the keeper isn’t catching the door. Unscrew each screw slightly with the Phillips Screwdriver to readjust the position of the latch by sliding the keeper up or down.
8. Once the keeper is lined up appropriately, tighten the screws
9. If needed, replace the strike plate on the door frame by unscrewing the two screws.
10. Place the new strike plate over the screw holes and screw the new strike plate in with your Phillips screwdriver.
11. If you need to remove the bezel, remove it from the screen door by unscrewing both screws.
12. Place the new bezel over the two holes and screw it into place.
